Brett Favre came back from retirement for the third time in three years. In late August, news broke that the Vikings had sent a private jet to the then-40-year-old quarterback’s hometown, Hattiesburg, MS to bring him back to Minnesota for one more go.
The season ended up being less than stellar for Favre, who was dogged by off-the-field issues and a number of injuries including a shoulder problem that ended his games-started streak at 297, and the Vikings finished with a 6-10 record (in 2009, they went 12-4).
Favre announced his fourth retirement in four years on January 2, 2011.
