Green Bay Packers, still in Super Bowl hunt, meet Eagles again Sunday

Back in September, the Green Bay Packers inadvertently began the Michael Vick comeback saga by knocking out Eagles starting quarterback Kevin Kolb during a Week One matchup. Vick took over and nearly propelled the Eagles past the Pack before losing, 27-20.

Now, some 3,000 passing yards later, Vick has become an MVP contender, even getting a nod from President Obama for making the best of a second chance after serving prison time for participating in a dog-fighting ring.

Vick will once again lead the (10-6) Eagles against Green Bay (10-6) in an NFC wild card game on Sunday in Philadelphia.

But Vick might not be as mobile versus the Packers, due to a leg injury suffered last Tuesday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, after recovering from a head injury, appears ready to run an offense that beat the Giants and Bears in recent weeks and gave AFC top-seed New England all that it could handle in a mid-December showdown.

Based on stats alone, the Eagles offense has the edge with 27.4 points per game (No. 3 in the league) and 389.4 yards of total offense (No. 2). But the Packers defense may blunt that edge. Green Bay is No. 2 with only 15 points allowed per game (compared to the Eagles at 23 points allowed).

Both teams will rely on short passes to move the ball, but will mix in the run with the long pass. The two teams also rely on quick defenses to corral the opposition offense.

With game has the potential of being the most entertaining of the NFL's first playoff weekend. The other three games include New Orleans at Seattle, Baltimore at Kansas City, and the NY Jets at Indianapolis.
