Brett Favre faces big obstacles ahead of Monday's game against Jets

Brett Favre and new Viking teammate Randy Moss are trying to get their timing down before Monday night's showdown with the Jets. In addition, the married quarterback allegedly engaged in some inappropriate behavior with a female reporter back in 2008 and may have problems with his elbow.

For a long time, Brett Favre has admired Pro Bowl wide receiver Randy Moss. Wednesday's trade that brought Moss to Minnesota provides the Vikings with some instant offense, if only the two stars can get together on the playbook and the practice field before Monday night's game with the New York Jets.

Forget that's it's Randy Moss's return debut wearing a purple jersey. Forget that Favre is returning to the city where he played (unimpressively) one season, and then jumped to the Vikings. This is a huge game on a big stage for a team that's only won one game so far in what's supposed to be a "go for broke" championship season.

On top of all that, Favre is now faced with some off-field "distractions" as formidable as dodging the 290-pound Jets freight train by the name of Shaun Ellis.

According to an Internet report, Favre admired a female Jets sideline reporter when they both worked for the AFC East team, back in 2008. The report alleges that the married father of two sent a sexually explicit text and left voicemails with the woman, who now hosts a sports-related program on Versus.

The Jets (3-1) are on a three-game winning streak, playing at home. Yes, Favre has Moss now to throw to deep. But will he be able to?

There are reports that Favre may have tendinitis in his right elbow, which is his throwing arm.

If Favre can't reach Moss down field, it'll be left to backup quarterbacks Tavaris Jackson or Joe Webb to try.

And that option doesn't bode well for the Vikings, especially on Monday night when the Jets defense will be throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, at ol' gunslinger No. 4.
