No longer – and they haven’t been for a long time. Video games represent a $25 billion industry in the United States, employing directly or indirectly 120,000 people. The average pay of the workers in the industry is $90,000 a year. Since 2005, the industry has grown eight times faster than the US economy. Worldwide, the growth of the business has been impressive, too. Sales of video games were projected to top $74 billion in 2011, according to Gartner Inc., a Connecticut-based high-tech research firm. That’s more than double the size of the recorded-music industry.
