George W. Bush and Laura Bush, the former president and first lady, are now grandparents. Margaret Laura "Mila" Hager was born Saturday night to the Bushes' daughter Jenna Bush Hager and her husband, Henry Hager.
“Laura and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our grandchild, Margaret Laura ‘Mila’ Hager…," the former president announced in a statement released Sunday afternoon. "She was born last night, April 13 at 8:43 p.m. in New York City. We met our beautiful granddaughter today. Jenna and Mila are healthy. And our family is elated.”
The baby is named after her grandmothers, as were her mother and aunt, Jenna's twin sister, Barbara.
The Hagers married in 2008 and announced they were expecting their first child last December on "The Today Show."
So how many great-grandchildren does former President George H.W. Bush – Mila's great-grandfather – now have?
Two. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush beat his older brother in the grandchildren department by almost two years.
In August 2011, the wife of former Governor Bush's son, Jeb Bush Jr., gave birth to a baby girl, Georgia Helena Walker Bush. The senior President Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush have 14 grandchildren, which means lots of potential for more great-grandchildren.
In addition to the junior President Bush's two children, son Jeb Bush has three, son Neil Bush has three, son Marvin Bush has two, and daughter Dorothy Bush Koch has four children.
