The confession room is a routine turn for reality show contestants. This is where they can bare their souls, share their hopes and dreams, and curry favor with audiences who may have a role in their fate. Trump makes the same unfiltered direct appeal to his potential constituents through his seemingly unfiltered tweets. This lends an authenticity that appeals to the millennial generation, in particular – a cohort raised on reality TV – points out researcher Ann Fishman, president of Generational Targeted Marketing.

“Trump speaks more in their language than any other candidate,” she says. “He speaks and tweets in short declarative sentences.”
