3. Did anything illegal happen?

The FBI ultimately chose not to pursue a criminal investigation of Petraeus because they determined no security breach had been committed. However, the seizure of reportedly classified documents from Broadwell’s home in Charlotte, N.C., marks a renewed expansion of the investigation, officials say.

As for Allen, if he is found to have committed adultery, he could be prosecuted under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Adultery is a crime for members of the military when it is found to be prejudicial to good order and discipline.
