Joint Operations Special Forces were part of the unit TF 145, teams of US and British special forces who had been hunting Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an Al-Qaeda captain and the most-wanted terrorist in Iraq for three years. After months of surveillance, on June 7, 2006 two bombs were dropped by an U.S. Air Force F-16 on a safe house near Baqubah in which Zarqawi had been hiding. At least five people died in the leveling of the house, as did Zarqawi as the U.S. military arrived.
