The A&E channel says Phil Robertson is off the show indefinitely after his remarks in a magazine interview. In a statement on Dec. 18, A&E said it was extremely disappointed to read Robertson's comments in GQ magazine.

An Alabama state Senator says he plans to introduce a resolution during the upcoming legislative session to show support for "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson.

The Talladega Daily Home reports that Republican Sen. Jerry Fielding of Sylacauga said the A&E network "bowed to pressures from liberal groups rather than respecting Robertson's biblically correct views."

In an interview with GQ magazine, Robertson paraphrased the Bible: "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers – they won't inherit the kingdom of God … Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."

He continued, "We never, ever judge someone on who's going to heaven, hell. That's the Almighty's job. We just love 'em, give 'em the good news about Jesus – whether they're homosexuals, drunks, terrorists. We let God sort 'em out later, you see what I'm saying?"

He also said that he thought African-Americans were happier under Jim Crow laws because he worked with people of color and they never complained to him.

Many quickly denounced the comments as homophobic and racist.

Robertson was suspended from the show soon afterward, prompting outcry from the show's supporters and some conservative politicians.

State Senator Fielding says he stands with many Alabamians who support Robertson sharing his Christian beliefs.
