In November 2009, Maj. Nidal Hasan, an army psychiatrist, went on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood in which he allegedly killed 13 people and wounded 29 more.

Major Hasan, who was shot during the attack and is now paralyzed from the chest down, has been charged with 13 counts of murder and 32 counts of attempted murder, and is awaiting court-martial, due to begin later this month. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
