Super Tuesday 101: Who’s ahead where

Ten states are holding presidential primaries or caucuses Tuesday – and many Republicans are hoping the results begin to bring an unusually volatile primary season to a close.

Here’s what to look for Tuesday night, state by state:

10. Vermont, 17 delegates

Campaign workers man the phones at the Romney headquarters in late February 2012 in Montpelier, Vt. The state has not attracted visits from any of the major party candidates seeking the Republican nomination.

It’s doubtful that Romney will get the 50 percent he would need in order to win all Vermont’s delegates, but he should still win by a comfortable margin. If one of his opponents can get hit the 20 percent threshold required for proportional allocation, then he’ll get a share of the state’s delegates. Paul has the best shot at this – he also did well in New Hampshire, and this is an open primary. Santorum will likely struggle here, with voters who are famously independent, but not particularly socially conservative.
