A neck-and-neck race between Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet and Republican District Attorney Ken Buck could help Colorado live up to its swing state reputation. Mr. Buck has a narrow lead at the moment and his backing by the tea party is linked to his primary race defeat of former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton.

Last Saturday’s televised debate between the candidates centered on the economy. Mr. Bennet supports taking “a fresh approach to Washington,” while Buck said he wants the health care bill to be revoked.

Colorado fits the national trend of GOP candidates shaking the seats of incumbents with well-funded campaigns. The Colorado Senate race received $3.6 million in funding from outside groups last Tuesday alone, reports Politico.
