Pitzer College, a member of the five-school Claremont consortium, aims to "produce engaged, socially responsible citizens of the world through an academically rigorous, interdisciplinary liberal arts education emphasizing social justice, intercultural understanding, and environmental sensitivity."

Pitzer offers its own study abroad programs as well as international exchanges with global universities. About 75 percent of Pitzer students participate in these programs that include community learning, directed independent study projects, and family stays.
