11 who leaked to news media ... and faced espionage charges

Under President Obama, seven people have been prosecuted under the Espionage Act for leaking classified documents to the news media, compared with three during all previous presidencies. Here's a breakdown of prosecutions by administration.

2. The Reagan administration

Two-term President Ronald Reagan delivered his farewell address to the nation at the Oval Office on Jan. 12, 1989. During his eight years in office, one government employee was prosecuted under the Espionage Act for leaking classified documents to the press.

1985: Samuel Loring Morison

Mr. Morison, a Navy civilian analyst who leaked classified satellite photographs to a British magazine, was sentenced to two years in prison. He was the first government official convicted for giving classified information to the press. President Bill Clinton pardoned him in 2001.
