With more Americans turning to the Internet for more of their holiday shopping needs, good cybersecurity is vital to avoid a raft of scams – from promises of "free iPads" to "holidays screensavers" that install malware on your computer. Here are the "12 cyber scams of Christmas." 

9. Fake shopping websites

It pays to take a second or even third look if the website you are shopping on is real.

By clicking on links on e-mail or Facebook, your browser might be redirected to a fake site that looks just like your popular online retailer. If there's any doubt, don't click, just type the company's web address directly into the web browser address bar. Or check the Better Business Bureau site or the National Retail Federation site.
