Game of Thrones: What trailer says about Season Four
Loading...
As the recent, rather clever marketing for the Season 3 DVD/Blu-ray set of Game of Thrones, implies, the smash-hit fantasy series left viewers at the end of their nerves during its last outing. How can the show’s creators top the blood and madness that closed out the previous season?
Even those familiar with George R.R. Martin’s source novels are uncertain of where the show might take the story of the war for Westeros. Already introducing and remixing elements from later novels (not to mention throwing in elements spun from whole cloth), Game of Thrones is increasingly tacking into unknown waters. Those curious about season 4 of the series – set to premiere in less than two months – got a boost today with a new trailer for these upcoming episodes.
Essentially a much-needed expansion of the previous trailer for the season, the trailer gives viewers hints of the consequences that will follow the climactic events of season 3. Even as House Lannister celebrates its apparent victory in the War of the Five Kings, survivors such as Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) pursue rule and revenge.
Also quite welcome are glimpses at the season 4′s VFX shots, including a much bigger Drogon, the immense slave city of Meereen, and a leisurely shot of one of the dreaded White Walkers. If these images are anything to go by, season 4 of Game of Thrones may be the most visually impressive outing of the series yet.
Game of Thrones‘ gigantic cast includes Peter Dinklage (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Mama), Lena Headey (Dredd), Charles Dance (Strike Back), and Jack Gleeson (Batman Begins), among many others.
