Rebel Wilson says "Super Fun Night" burst from her own social misadventures.

The upcoming ABC sitcom focuses on her character and two gal pals who spend every Friday night together, avoiding contact with the outside world.

The Australian-born comedian-actress said she used to sit home many nights with pals watching DVDs. Then she resolved to spread her wings and force herself into social situations.

"Super Fun Night" draws on those experiences.

The series is produced by Conan O'Brien, who discovered Wilson as a guest on his TBS talk show. He said he knew right away he wanted to sign her for a series.

He described Wilson as "vulnerable, fearless" and among the most likable performers he's ever met.

Willson opened and closed the MTV Movie Awards show earlier this year wearing Iron Man-style armor and won MTV's
"Breakthrough Performance" award for her work in "Pitch Perfect." Wilson also shared in the film's TV award for Best Musical Moment.

"I was a bit surprised they asked me to host, and so was MTV -- they thought I was Adele," Wilson joked.
