Beyonce Knowles arrives at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards at Madison Square Garden, in New York. The singer recently performed at the CMA Awards.

Beyonce became the newest pop performer to appear at the CMA Awards, as the “Lemonade” singer performed at the Nov. 2 ceremony along with country group the Dixie Chicks.

Beyonce performed her song “Daddy Lessons” with the Dixie Chicks during the ceremony, which is hosted by the Country Music Association and at which such prizes as Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year are distributed.

Beyonce also performed at this year’s Super Bowl and has given acclaimed performances at other awards ceremonies such as this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, which were held this past August.

She released her most recent album, “Lemonade,” in April. “Daddy Lessons” appears on that album.

With her appearance at the CMA Awards, Beyonce became the latest artist who is mostly known for pop songs to appear at a country music-based ceremony and some of these have been particularly well-received, perhaps demonstrating that singers from other genres can lend something new to the ceremonies. It's also part of a longer term trend of country music attracting "mainstream" audiences – and many country stars are achieving "crossover" success. Singer Katy Perry appeared at the ACM Awards earlier this year to sing with Dolly Parton, while the CMA Awards have previously hosted such singers as Justin Timberlake, who performed at the 2015 CMA Awards with musician Chris Stapleton for what was widely viewed as one of the highlights of the evening.

Beyonce’s appearance this year also seems to have been well-received, with musicians at the ceremony giving her and the Dixie Chicks a standing ovation.

As for the rest of this year’s CMA Awards, musician Garth Brooks was named Entertainer of the Year, while Eric Church’s “Mr. Misunderstood” was named Album of the Year. Lori McKenna’s “Humble and Kind” received the award for Song of the Year, while Carrie Underwood was named Female Vocalist of the Year and Mr. Stapleton won the  Male Vocalist of the Year award. Little Big Town was named the Best Vocal Group of the Year.
