"Roads," which is also called "Take Me Home, Country Roads," was co-written by Denver with Taffy Nivert and Bill Danoff and released by the singer in 1971. "Roads," which speaks about the beauty of West Virginia, was embraced by residents of the state, and the song has been played at pre-game football shows at West Virginia University since 1972, and West Virginia senators and representatives have tried to change the state song to "Roads," to no success so far.
