Julie Delpy is best known for her acting collaborations with Ethan Hawke in Richard Linklater’s “Before” trilogy, but she also has directed as well as starred in several movies of her own.

The latest, “Lolo,” is a mildly enjoyable jape about an overprotective single mother whose doting 19-year-old son, nicknamed Lolo, inevitably sabotages all of her potential suitors – without her being aware of the sabotage. Her new beau, Jean-René (Dany Boon), is his latest victim. It’s all meant to be funnier than it is. Grade: C+ (This film is not rated.)
