22. 'The Pride of the Yankees'

The 1942 film directed by Sam Wood tells the story of real-life baseball player Lou Gehrig, who played for the New York Yankees and soon found himself experiencing symptoms of a strange disease.

Legendary Yankees player Babe Ruth portrayed himself in the film. The film starred Gary Cooper, Teresa Wright, and Walter Brennan

The real Gehrig had died only a year before the movie's release.
