5 crowd-pleasing holiday specials

Looking for something holiday-themed that the whole family will enjoy? These five specials have stood the test of time and will be loved by young and old alike.

4. 'The Year Without A Santa Claus'

Also produced by Rankin/Bass, "Year" premiered on ABC in 1974 and follows a Santa who falls ill and, having grown increasingly discouraged over the lack of holiday spirit in the world, decides to stay home on Christmas Eve. Mrs. Claus, a couple of elves, and a boy from down south set out to prove him wrong and show how much children still care about him. The special is best remembered for bickering stepbrothers Snow Miser and Heat Miser, who each perform their own theme song – same tune, different lyrics.
