5 crowd-pleasing holiday specials

Looking for something holiday-themed that the whole family will enjoy? These five specials have stood the test of time and will be loved by young and old alike.

2. 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'

The story originated as a picture book by Theodore Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss (in which the Grinch was not green) and was adapted into a holiday special in 1966, also originally airing on CBS. The special follows a village of people called Whos, who love Christmas a lot, and the Grinch who lives just north of Whoville and... doesn't, and hatches a plan to take away the Whos' holiday spoils. Actor and singer Thurl Ravenscroft performs the song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch," though uncredited, and later also voiced the Frosted Flakes mascot Tony the Tiger. (Make sure you're ordering the animated special through On Demand, not the Jim Carrey version.)
