Weather-related emergencies – even the power going out at home – can be handled more easily if everyone is ready for the elements. Staying comfortable in extreme cold or extreme heat, dry in all conditions, and ready to move in comfortable clothing and shoes is as necessary for a day out adventuring as it is in an emergency. The Alaska Marine Safety Education organization has a list of tips for dressing properly for going outdoors in cold and wet weather.
