Draw a map of your house and diagram an exit plan for your family to follow in the case of an evacuation at home. Walk kids through the exact steps needed for them to evacuate their rooms, and if need, create a checklist for them to review. Twice a year, run a practice evacuation drill in your home for your entire family. For city- or state-level evacuations, review the Ready.gov site for information about emergency evacuations that require leaving town for personal safety.
