Dating has already grown overly complex in the age of technology, as couples navigate falling in love through emails, texts, and Snapchat posts, but we are just getting started. According to a recent study published by the University of Chicago, more than a third of marriages between 2005 and 2012 began online. As more of our daily life moves online, dating will undoubtedly adopt new rituals, and perhaps one day the parents of babies born in 2014 will first meet new boyfriends and girlfriends through Skype chats instead of greeting them at the front door before a date.
