The Harlem Shake craze hit YouTube this winter and everyone from the Norwegian army to an underwater University of Georgia men's swim team got on the bandwagon. Little did we know the Harlem Shake videos are perfect metaphors for prom — one person, traditionally fueled by a misplaced belief in their abilities, starts dancing alone until suddenly (usually when the teachers turn the ceiling lights off) the rest of the student body joins in and becomes a gigantic, jiggling, gyrating mess.
