A Kentucky father was arrested Monday for leaving his 2-year-old in the car. Extra precautions are necessary as temperatures continue to rise in Kentucky. Here, Debbie and Dave Antle draw cold water from the tap on June 28, 2012, in Louisville, Ky., as they seek relief from the extreme heat.

Police have charged an eastern Kentucky father with wanton endangerment for leaving his son in a hot car for nearly two hours.

London Police say Kenneth Scott Robinson simply forgot his son was in the car when he left the toddler to go into work on Monday.

WKYT-TV reported Monday that the boy was rushed to a nearby hospital and expected to fully recovered.

Police Chief Stewart Walker says Mr. Robinson was "pretty shook up" over the incident and is "an emotional wreck." A witness who saw the boy in the car said he was red-faced and unresponsive. Other witnesses said the boy was alert.

According to ABC News, Robinson pleaded not guilty on Wednesday at his arraignment. He is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

Last week an 8-month-old infant left in a car in Louisville died of heat exposure. Police have not charged the parents of the child, who was supposed to be taken to a daycare.
