Singer Adele has revealed some new details about her upcoming album.
The “Skyfall” singer wrote on social media about her upcoming project, saying that “if I had to label this one, I would call it a make-up record.”
There's no release date or track list. But fans are guessing the new album by the singer will be titled “25” (her previous albums were “19” and “21," based on her age), as Adele ended her message by saying, “25 is about getting to know who I’ve become without realizing. And I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.”
She's now the mother of a three-year old boy.
Adele’s 2011 album “21” became a huge hit, spawning such popular tracks as “Rolling In The Deep,” “Rumor Has It,” and “Someone Like You.” It was well-received by critics and dropped off the Billboard 200 chart, which measures album sales, only recently. As of earlier this year, it was still on the chart after four years. She picked up various Grammy Awards for “21” and the songs on it, including album of the year.
The singer also found success when she sang the title track of the 2012 movie “Skyfall.” The song won a Grammy Award for best song written for visual media and won the Academy Award for best original song, the first from a James Bond movie to do so.
What is behind Adele’s appeal? One factor is most likely her vocal prowess. In 2011, she performed at the MTV Video Music Awards and stood out among fellow performers like Chris Brown, who used wires in his performance, by giving a performance of “Someone” that was light on stagecraft, with her performing dressed in black in front of a piano, but big on vocal power. Critics called the number “stellar” and “heartfelt.”
In addition, her songs, many of which are written by Adele, appeal to a wide range of listeners. Paste writer Ryan Reed described the songs on Adele’s “21,” “well-manicured… shoot[ing] straight for the pop charts” and Entertainment Weekly reviewer Leah Greenblatt calling the songs “timeless.”
With these factors no doubt still with her, Adele’s next album is almost guaranteed to be a hit.
