Take a breath to savor the moment people. You are not only about to watch the final trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, you’re about to watch the last theatrical preview for any film involving the boy wizard and his friends. Period.
Everything from the character posters to a short clip unveiled in advance of Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has been focused on the concept that film is THE ultimate conclusion to the fantasy saga. A number of the movie’s one-sheets don’t even feature the title – instead, relying on people’s immediate recognition of characters like Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) or even important supporting players like Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis), looking bruised and battered from the final battle against Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes).
As fans familiar with J.K. Rowling’s originalDeathly Hallows novels know all too well, the end-all battle at Hogwarts between the forces of good and the minions of darkness isn’t the only big event that has yet to occur on-screen.Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will begin with Harry and Co. setting-off to find one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes within the walls of the heavily-guarded Gringotts Bank – an act that eventually leads Harry, Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) to return to their beloved Hogwarts castle.
From there, the battle to end all battles in the wizarding world commences. Enchanted suits of armor marching to war, Voldemort’s Death Eaters swooping about like puffs of black smoke, magical flames that take the form of gigantic dragons, wizards firing killing curses left and right – not to mention, multiple deaths, dark secrets revealed, and even some romance for those left standing. Deathly Hallows: Part 2 promises to deliver everything you could expect from the finale to a franchise that’s been going on for ten years now.
Without further adieu, here’s the second (and last) trailer for Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (which originally debuted in HD over at Apple):
Those of you who got goosebumps from watching the first Deathly Hallows: Part 2 trailer are bound to have shivers running down your spine, after watching this preview. The contrast between the footage from earlier Harry Potter films and the haunting imagery from the series finale is quite effective, painting a ghastly picture of the doom and destruction that will reign down on Hogwarts – heck, even the Quidditch field is reduced to a pile of flaming debris!
On a slightly more serious note: Deathly Hallows: Part 2 should have just as much (and then some) drama, heartbreak, dazzling visual effects, and awe-inspiring action as any other entry in the blockbuster fantasy series. Based off the glimpses of some of the more emotionally-stirring moments in the film that are included in this last trailer – including Harry’s encounters with the “ghosts” of his parents and beloved godfather, Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) – there’s bound to be very few devoted Harry Potter fans that walk away from watching this thing that don’t shed at least a tear or two.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 will arrive in theaters on July 15th, 2011.
