Third-party keyboards are a huge addition to iOS 8’s feature list. Third-party keyboards were added to Android in April 2009. Over the years, Android developers published a number of popular keyboards that not only provided the same features and functionality that Apple only recently added, but also challenged the idea of what a traditional touchscreen keyboard should look like and act like.

Several popular Android keyboards, such as Swype, Swiftkey, and Fleksy, have already adapted their keyboards for iOS.
