Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

While Apple's Maps app has come a long way since its disappointing debut, we still prefer Google Maps. Among its nice features is a secret way to save maps so that they will work even when you have no cell reception. Before you go off the grid, pull up the desired map in Google Maps, and then type into the search bar "ok maps" and hit "search." A notification will confirm that it worked.
