Microsoft’s latest gaming console will be here before you know it, but what is a gaming console without the games?

Amazon.com is offering a special trade-in program for old video games that will make sure Xbox enthusiasts are not without their games.

The online megastore is running a “One Up Your Game” program that will let users trade in select Xbox 360 games and receive a $25 bonus credit toward the same game in the Xbox One format in addition to the trade-in value of at least $25.

Gamers send in the older version of the game and then wait for their item to be processed and graded. After the item is accepted, participants qualify for the Xbox One trade-in. For the die-hards, this might seem like a long lag time between sending an old version of Call of Duty and receiving a new one. But, the significant price reduction might make it worthwhile. Xbox One games, which are going for $59.99, could cost $9.99 or less, depending on the trade in value.

Amazon is following other companies, most notably GameStop, in offering Xbox trade-in deals.

The video game retailer GameStop is offering PowerUp Rewards members the opportunity to receive a $50 minimum credit for select standard edition Xbox 360 titles when a member upgrades to the new Xbox One version of the game. The new Xbox One games cost $59.99, so with the trade-in credit from GameStop, the price will be cut to $9.99.

When the new Xbox goes on sale this fall, it will cost $499.

Sony’s rival PlayStation 4 will make its debut in the Holiday 2013 season, according to TechRadar.com. The PS4 is less expensive than Microsoft’s Xbox One, at $399.
