Verizon iPhone: Will you be shopping at 3 a.m. on Feb. 3?

Existing Verizon Wireless customers, who signed up in the weeks since the formal announcement on Jan. 11, have been sent an e-mail letting them know that they can stand in a virtual line to try to buy an iPhone at 3 a.m. on Feb. 3.
3 a.m.? That's right. Due to overwhelming demand (or so Verizon hopes), Verizon iPhone will go on sale in the wee hours Thursday.
Does this seem just a bit ridiculous?
Or is this a way of creating buzz, a contrived media event? Will Verizon be dubbing it Black Thursday? Or, is there a technical reason as to why iPhones must be sold at 3 a.m.? Perhaps this is a way to beat the presumed crowds at Verizon or Apple stores on Feb. 10 when the Verizon iPhone will become available to the general public.
Will Apple and Verizon stores open at 3 a.m? At least shopping on-line can be done in your pajamas.
Will you be up at 3 a.m. to order a Verizon iPhone?
