Lake Berryessa wildfire smoke drifts to San Francisco

Authorities say high winds are pushing smoke from a small wildfire in Northern California into San Francisco and surrounding areas.
The fire near Lake Berryessa in Napa County had burned 500 acres and was 75 percent contained as of Friday morning, a day after it began.
State fire spokesman Daniel Berlant says the fire initially threatened several ranches, but crews were able to stop its forward progress.
Wind gusts of up to 35 mph pushed smoke from the blaze into San Francisco, where it could be smelled on Thursday night. The lake is about 75 miles northeast of the city.
Berlant says winds are expected to remain high throughout the state on Friday and through the weekend, prompting a red flag warning.
