Six ways fleet operators save on gas (and you can, too)

While you may long for $2 gas, the truth is that higher prices – in the $3 to $4 a gallon range – are the new normal. Here are six money-saving tips, used by fleet operators, to save money on fuel:

2. Leverage loyalty programs

Consumers can take advantage of loyalty programs to earn points for up to 30 cents off per gallon at select gas stations. Sometimes this means joining a discount or warehouse club, so make sure the savings are worth the membership fee. Certain credit cards also offer cash back or points worth up to 3 percent or more of your gasoline purchase.
