There are also many ways to save on your cell phone plan or a new cell phone in June, leaving you with a little extra cash in your wallet to spend on Dad, doughnuts or graduation gifts. Or, better yet, to pad your rainy-day fund.
Check out our picks for the best cell phone deals in June, and keep an eye out for special deals the week of Father’s Day.
Buy an iPhone, get an(other) iPhone
Want to win son or daughter of the year? Get Dad a new iPhone. Then get one for yourself, for free. Sprint is stretching its buy one, get one free promotion on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus into June. Verizon is offering a similar promotion, but just on the iPhone 6S.
You have to opt for installment billing to qualify for Sprint’s promotion, and you’ll get a monthly bill credit for your free phone. With Verizon’s promo, your first iPhone is paid for over 24 months, and the second is paid for in full, then refunded via a mail-in rebate.
With both carriers, at least one line needs to be a new line of service. So consider reversing roles and adding Pops to your plan. You know, to thank him for all those years you mooched off his family plan. And speaking of family plans …
Free lines for families
T-Mobile‘s 6GB Simple Choice plan is already one of the best family cell phone plans on the market. And the self-described “uncarrier” has sweetened the deal. Now you can get four lines with 6GB each for $120 per month. The regular price for a family of four on T-Mobile’s 6GB Simple Choice with Family Match is $160, so you basically get the fourth line free. This promo is available for new and current customers.
Boost Mobile also has an awesome deal for families: You can get two lines, each with 10GB of high-speed data, for just $65 per month with the prepaid carrier, which is owned by Sprint. Need more than two lines? You can get three lines for $90, four for $115 or five for $140, and each line still gets 10GB of data per month.
The promotional pricing includes a $5 per month discount for automatic payments, which kicks in on your second month. If you don’t opt for autopay, just add $5 to the monthly cost. You’re still getting a heck of a deal. Boost’s standard family plans start at $35 per month per line for 2GB on each line.
You get a Galaxy S7, and you get a Galaxy S7
Verizon has another a buy one, get one promotion in June. This one is on the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, and, unlike Sprint’s deal, it doesn’t require you to activate a new line of service. The “free” phone comes in the form of a Visa prepaid card, which you receive by sending a mail-in rebate. Existing customers must be eligible to upgrade, and new and existing customers need to start a new device payment plan.
All of these deals are for a limited time, and some may expire before the end of June.
