What’s coming from Elon Musk and Tesla could be much bigger (faster) than we thought

Is Tesla about to unleash a car that can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds? If the Internet has its way, yes.
When CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter Wednesday to tease an Oct. 9 announcement, speculation about what “D” might be ran wild.
But maybe not wild enough. Electrek claims it got word that the marquee feature of today’s Tesla event at 6 p.m. Pacific time will be the P85D – a “supersport” version of the Tesla Model S – will have all-wheel drive. That part is widely expected.
“What’s perhaps not expected is what Tesla has been able to squeeze out of this battery and Dual-motor beast. My understanding is that the vehicle has been testing (unofficially) under three seconds on the 0 to 60,” Electrek reported. “This is incredibly fast.”
Interestingly, this bit of speculation falls nicely into what Mr. Musk shared in a typically vague interview with Vanity Fair where he danced around questions but said this: “The internet is very good at guessing these things. They are directionally correct but the magnitude is not well appreciated yet.”
Could that 0 to 60 be that missing magnitude?
We’ll find out tonight.
