“Standard mileage rates,” or the amount of money you can deduct from your taxes for using your car, van, pickup or panel truck for work, medical reasons, or moving slightly declined this year. While the charity rebate rate remains the same – $.14 per mile driven – the rate for business-related miles driven fell to 54 cents per mile this year from 57.5 cents in 2015.
Did you move in 2016? If so, you can deduct 19 cents per mile driven; same if you used your car for medical purposes last year. This is down from 23 cents in 2015.
