Forbes billionaires list: Meet the nine richest self-made women

Forbes has released its annual billionaires list, and nestled among the usual suspects were women who have made or helped make their own fortunes, in industries ranging from television to real estate to clothing. These are the nine richest self-made women on Forbes 2013 Billionaires List.  

1. Rosalia Mera

Ms. Mera co-founded Inditex, parent company of the global clothing retailer Zara, with her ex-husband Amancio Ortega. She now holds a 5.1 percent stake in the $18 billion company and earned $600 million when the company went public in 2001. Mera is the richest woman in Spain and has a variety of investment interests, including a marine fish-farming group, the luxury Bulgari hotel in London, and a system for fingerprinting newborns.
