Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

The number of retail gun dealers in the US, as of October 2012- increasing by 3,303 licensed retailers since 2009. In 2010, the number of retailers increased for the first time since 1993, the year before Congress passed a federal assault weapons ban (which expired in 2004).
The country’s largest firearms retailer is Walmart, which resumed the sale of firearms in mid-2011 after a five-year hiatus.
