"Julia," a German Shepherd trained by a trainer who also supplies dogs for Seal Team 6, was sold as a protection dog for $230,000, according to The New York Times.

German shepherds are highly intelligent, loyal dogs – the rare case of a breed that can be a babysitter for small children and a ferocious dog guard all in one. That’s what millionaire John Johnson was looking for in June 2011 when he bought Julia, a German Shepherd trained as a “protection dog” by a trainer who used to supply dogs to Seal Team 6 and British Special Forces. According to The New York Times, well-bred German shepherds trained as protection dogs are routinely sold to celebrities and millionaires for between $40,000 and $60,000. Julia, however, is an international champion in the sport of Schutzhund (protection), which contributed to her astronomical price tag.
