'Far From the Madding Crowd' is adapted as a movie

Thomas Hardy's novel is being adapted as a movie starring Carey Mulligan and Michael Sheen. The new film will be released in the US on May 1.

A new version of the Thomas Hardy novel “Far From the Madding Crowd” is hitting theaters.

Hardy’s book follows a woman named Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan) who is wooed by shepherd Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts) and widower William Boldwood (Michael Sheen) as well as the soldier Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge).

The novel was previously filmed with Julie Christie, Terene Stamp, and Peter Finch – that version was released in 1967.

The new film with Mulligan and Sheen hits theaters on May 1. Check out the trailer above.
