Happy holidays, “Potter” fans.
It appears you’ve all been very good this year, because “Potter” author J.K. Rowling has announced she’ll be releasing 12 – that’s right, 12 – new stories set in the “Potter” world on the website Pottermore.
From Dec. 12 to Dec. 23, a new piece by Rowling will be posted on Pottermore. The announcement of the upcoming stories comes after the author released a story about “Potter” villain Dolores Umbridge in honor of Halloween. Other original work appearing on the website has included a fake article by reporter Rita Skeeter about what Harry, his wife Ginny, and friends Ron and Hermione are up to following the events of the “Potter” series and a story about the life of “Potter” singer Celestina Warbeck.
According to Time Magazine, one of the stories will look at “Potter” villain Draco Malfoy and an e-mail to Pottermore users stated that the new pieces will also include “wonderful writing by J.K. Rowling in Moments from ‘Half-Blood Prince,’ shiny gold Galleons and even a new potion or two.” (“Prince” is the sixth book in the “Potter” series.)
Rowling recently released “The Silkworm,” the second in a planned series about detective Cormoran Strike (no magic in those books). She will also be behind the screenplay for an upcoming film adaptation of her book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which is set in the “Potter” universe. In “Potter,” “Fantastic” was a textbook assigned to students written by Newt Scamander. Scamander will reportedly be the main character of the “Fantastic” film series, for which three movies are planned. The first film will be released in 2016. David Yates is taking the helm for that film – Yates directed the final four movies in the “Potter” film series, which were some of the most critically praised of the “Potter” movies.
