A new trailer has been released for the upcoming movie based on the book “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien. The title of the new movie is “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.”
The film is set to be the conclusion of “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson’s trilogy based on the novel. The cast includes “Sherlock” actor Martin Freeman as hobbit Bilbo Baggins as well as Ian McKellan of the TV show “Vicious” as the wizard Gandalf, and Richard Armitage of “Robin Hood” as dwarf leader Thorin.
The new trailer previews the battle-heavy conclusion of the series and is set to “Lord of the Rings” actor Billy Boyd’s performance of a song based on Tolkien’s work “A Walking Song,” which Boyd performed in the 2003 movie “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”
In the new clip, Bilbo says, “One day I’ll remember, remember everything that happened. The good, the bad. Those who survived and those that did not.”
Human Bard the Bowman (Luke Evans) asks Thorin, “Will you have peace or war?” to which Thorin replies, “I will have war.”
After watching the first “Hobbit” movie, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” Monitor film critic Peter Rainer said that he found himself asking, “Do we really need this movie?” However, Rainer “quite liked” the second movie, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” writing that “there’s much more eye-catching mayhem…. Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) gets to face off against one of the great movie dragons of all time and there’s a giant spider attack sequence that represents Jackson at his gross-out best…. Most middle movies in a trilogy simply mark time. Not this one.”
“Armies," which was originally titled “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” but recently had its title changed, is set to be released on Dec. 17.
