A trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Judith Viorst’s classic children’s book “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” offers a sneak peek at the movie.

The film stars “Puberty Blues” actor Ed Oxenbould as Alexander and Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner as his parents.

The trailer shows that the story has certainly been updated to fit its contemporary setting, with one of Alexander’s troubles being that his face was Photoshopped onto other people’s bodies and Alexander’s older brother Anthony (Dylan Minnette) remarking, before his own life takes a turn for the worse, that he is “hashtag blessed.”

But in the movie adaptation of “Alexander,” it turns out that not only he but the rest of his family have terrible days, with misadventures including his father Ben (Carell) experiencing a bad job interview and his brother Anthony failing his driving exam.

Jennifer Coolidge, Dick Van Dyke, and Donald Glover co-star in the film, which is set to be released on Oct. 10.
