Film adaptation of Gillian Flynn's 'Dark Places' will star Charlize Theron, Corey Stoll

'Dark Places' was first released in 2009.

'Dark Places' is by Gillian Flynn.

“Gone Girl” author Gillian Flynn’s novel “Dark Places” is being turned into a film starring Charlize Theron and Chloe Grace Moretz.

In the movie (which has yet to snag a US distributor), Theron stars as Libby Day, a woman who testified at a young age that her older brother was behind the murders of her mother and two sisters. Decades later, Libby searches for those who were involved in the tragic events and begins to discover the truth behind the murders.

Actors Corey Stoll of “House of Cards,” Chloë Grace Moretz of “Carrie,” Nicholas Hoult of “X-Men: First Class” and Christina Hendricks of “Mad Men” are also on board for the project.

Director Gilles Paquet-Brenner of “Sarah’s Key” is heading up the adaptation.

Flynn's novel "Gone Girl" is also being adapted into a film, with "Gone" starring actors Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in the lead roles.
