Angry Birds have entertained millions of users with the addictive game. Now the brightly colored, scowling faces are coming to the printed page.
Rovio Entertainment, a Finnish company, will publish “Angry Birds: Bad Piggies’ Egg Recipes,” the first Angry Birds book, on Nov. 29. (In the game, pigs steal the birds’ eggs; that's why the birds are angry.) The book will include 40 recipes using eggs, including egg sushi, as well as activities and party ideas. "Angry Birds: Big Red Doodle Book" and "Angry Birds: Big Green Doodle Book," two coloring books where budding artists can finish drawings inside the pages, will be released at the same time.
Rovio will also release a series of Angry Birds books for the classroom for an age range from four-year-olds to teenagers. Wibe Wagemans, a branding executive at Rovio, told The Wall Street Journal that one of the books will demonstrate geometry concepts by having readers launch a bird into the air.
“Right now it's up to us, with basic brand management, to keep the brand alive, keep it cool and delight our fans with new things,” Wagemans said.
An Angry Birds feature film is also said to be in early planning stages.
