As my wife and I migrated to the United States in the winter of 1968 after 6 years of waiting for a visa, being very young and full of dreams with the possibility of a brighter future, we left Uruguay with lots of questions that had no answers. Now, through reading Open Veins of Latin America by Eduardo Galeano, we finally have answers. Today, Obama's new outlook on dealing with Latin America is erasing the last 50 years of selfish policies and the use of force to change governments. "Open Veins of Latin America" points out the miscalculations and errors.
