Reader recommendation: The Town that Forgot How to Breathe

Monitor readers share their favorite book picks.

I am currently reading The Town that Forgot How to Breathe by Kenneth J. Harvey and greatly enjoying it. It is a "Newfoundland Gothic" (in the spirit of Capote, Lee, McCarthy, and Connery's Southern Gothic) novel, full of a compelling story, twisted characterizations, and a good sense of an individualized world order, as seen on The Rock (i.e. Newfoundland). I almost don't want the story to finish.
